Knoydart  Oct 2004

Knoydart is a remote peninsula in West Scotland- there’s no road to it, the only ways to get there are by crossing the water or hiking in.  As well as being very beautiful the area has a fascinating history.

The land of Knoydart was not owned by its inhabitants until 1997 when the people of Knoydart (with the help of the Highland Council and some donations from wealthy friends) to managed to buy back their own land.  The  ‘Knoydart Foundation’ was formed to “preserve, enhance & develop Knoydart for the well being of the environment and the people” .
